- have your mom call the doctor. I know mine prescribed medicine for the thrush over the phone. Is he hungry or dirty? maybe he just wants to be held
- Call the doctor and get him seen sooner. Thrush can cause some fussiness, but usually not that severe. If he is truly fussy all the time and is not eating well, there could be something more going on. Definitely have her check for a fever, and if he is greater then 100.4 degrees F, he needs to be seen today. Sometimes 2 week olds are just fussy, but he should be evaluated to be sure there's not something wrong.
- For starters, you are a good kid for caring so much about your brother. Thrush isn't too hard to cure, my daughter had it as an infant too. The doctor will prescribe some medicine that will have to be "painted" onto you brother's tongue and the inside of his mouth. I can't remember exactly how many days this has to be done but is only a week or two. At the end of this treatment time the thrush will be gone (it is just a fungal infection). Try not to worry too much. Edit: I just realized the date of the appointment. If your mom is concerned about waiting until the middle of the week, she can call the doctor's answering service and the doctor will call her back.
- Thrush is painful - that's why he's crying so much. Your mom should get him into urgent care or drop-in at the clinic to get a prescription earlier. If I call up and say my son has thrush the clinic will get me into an appt in less than an hour.
- The only thing you can do right now is comfort him. Help out by carrying him around and patting/shushing him. Stay patient. He's not trying to drive you crazy, he's just hurting and he needs your help. DO your best to help with housework, too. If the bathroom sink is dirty, get a paper towel wet and wipe it off. If the kitchen is messy, do the dishes and wipe up the counters. If the carpet is crumb-ey, run the vacuum. Don't wait to be told. Keep your brother swaddled tightly. Your mom will show you how to do this. Is there someone you can call and ask to bring over some dinner? Maybe your grandma can bring over some food and hold the baby while your mom eats and takes a shower. On Monday, mom can take the baby to the doctor's office for some medicine. My baby has thrush right now, too. It's hard to deal with her, but it's important to stay patient and give your mom a break! You must be such a nice kid to be concerned about your brother. Just wait until you can teach him how to kick a ball or jump on the bed! Then he'll be so much fun!
- Well he could be dirty, want to be held, hungry, he could have colic, or it could just be gas. He is 2 weeks, babies dont know any better, he was born 2 weeks ago, im sure he's still tryin to adjust being on the outside. Try swaddling him, that always worked with my son, he stopped crying within seconds and fell asleep within minutes, they want the comfort they felt when they were in the womb, being fussy is just a common thing in babies. My 10 week old just started getting on a good sleeping schedule, which me and my wife are really excited about. If he's being breastfed its less of a chance he will have gas, since there is no bottle he can suck the air out of to cause this. I would suggest swaddling him it never failed for us. Good Luck, hope your brother gets better!
