oral thrush or blisters?
My baby has blister like things on the inside of his lips, not on his gums just inside his lips. they are getting worse but i cant see anything on his tongue. Do you think this is oral thrush or simply blisters from sucking, as he also has a dummy, but is mainly breast feeding. Do you think it could be a side effect from the reflux medicine Zantac...i'm seeing the doc on monday

- Call your doctor. I am guessing they are blisters from sucking, but like I said it's a guess. My daughter got Oral Thrush over and over again as a newborn and breastfeeding infant. That usually makes their tounge look white and patchy. She never had blisters from it.
- there is a sucking blister on the bottom and top lip that can form from the sucking and isn't anything to worry about. If the blisters are on the inside of the mouth you may want to check his hands and feet for blisters in case it is hands/foot/mouth disease (which isn't serious just nasty). If it is thrush it will look like formula on the tongue (can't be brushed off) and on the cheeks inside and could be on the roof of the mouth. If you are breastfeeding you would most likely show signs on your nipples, it can be very painful. Thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth basically. Zantac is powerful enough to take the label off a measuring thing so yes some babies could have sideeffects but my boys never got any blisters.
- thrush is a thich white plaque onthe tongue and inside of the mouth, it is not thrush. (if it was, your nipples would be itching like crazy, it's a yeast ifection and you would get it on your breasts.) they are probably just from sucking, i would be sure and let the dr know at your apt.
- Sweetie, you need to change your doctor's appointment from Monday to RIGHT NOW.
