Tongue Thrush

Tongue Thrush

My three year old has had a white film on her tongue?

My three year old has a white film on her tongue that cannot be wiped away. She has had it for about a week and has no other symptoms. She had thrush as a baby and it looks the same as that but I thought that could only occur in babies. Any advice would be much appreciated.

  4. That sounds like thrush... And I believe you can get thrush at any time in your life
  5. Probably thrush, call the doc
  6. first of all thats right most of the time thrush is more often seen in babies but your three year old could be getting bacteria from a paci or something he is constantly putting in his mouth hope this helps.
  7. Sounds like thrush, anyone can get it. It is just a yeast infection in the mouth. Talk to a doc. Also eating yogurt with live active cultures helps
  8. It could be thrush, especially if there are white spots on the insides of her cheeks; it can occur at any age. Have your pediatrician take a look.
  9. Even adults can get thrush. It is contagious, especially around kids. My son had strepthroat and had the white film on his tongue, same with my daughter, so it could be from another infection as well. I would just take her in to be sure. If it is thrush it should be on the inside of her cheeks and all in her mouth. Good luck and sorry the little one is sick!!
  10. Better check for thrush again it can also be a vitamin B defiencey, best to consult a doctor. Try a tongue scraper and see if you can remove the film....do a web search just type in white coating on tongue......hope these suggestions help
  11. I'm a mom, been there - Sounds Like THRUSH! It can happen in infants AND toddlers. Thrush appears as whitish, velvety plaques in the mouth and on the tongue. Don't panic, call the doctor in morning, sounds like she will need antibiotics.
  12. Im sure thats thrush!!
  13. yeah she could still get the thrush. all the thrush is, is a yeast infection of the mouth. see your doc. they can give you medication. if it don't bother her i would not worry about it unless it gets really thick, and keeps her from eating well.
  14. Well, as a mom and soon to be nurse, I would like to point out that thrush is usually painful and your daughter should be old enough to articulate that symptom in more than one way. Is it splotchy? Anyway, your best bet is to see a physician. The peace of mind is worth the expense. Good Luck & Good health.
  15. It sounds as though your 3 year old is dehydrated. Give her lots and lots of water.
  16. It definitely sounds like thrush. My relative gets it and she's almost 30! If she seems to get it often, it may be an excess of simple sugars/carbs she eats.
