Tongue Thrush

Tongue Thrush

can you brush thrush off your tongue?

thrush is a yeast infection in the mouth I was just wondering will it come off the tongue if you brush it off with your tooth brush or will it stay there?

  1. I believe it needs to be treated with antibiotics. Please see a doctor right away.
  2. I doubt it
  3. that's bacterial, see a doc he'll give you antibiotics. and do cleanse the mouth, gums, teeth and tongue too. even after you're feeling better.
  4. thrush is annoying and even more so to get rid of i find that yogurt helps to get rid of it i used to get it all the time until i started eatting a cup of yogurt a day, now its been nearly 2 years since i had it last and my health is actually better because of it
  5. I think that brushing will help but it is also irritating. If money is an issue, ask a pharmacist. I think most likely you will need medication. That doesn't mean you will necessarily need a prescription. Try the pharmacist first. Man, that has to be uncomfortable, don't wait too long. Hope you or whomever you are asking about feels better soon!
  6. Thrush is a fungal infection, so antibiotics will make it worse. In fact, antibiotics often cause it. You can brush it off your tongue but that won't cure it. You need an antifungal preparation. In some countries you can get a nystatin liquid in a dropper, over the counter at the drug store. Otherwise you will need to get something from the doctor (I recommend lozenges rather than a liquid). Another thing that works, but may not be available where you are, is tea tree oil. Put a few drops in water and gargle with it. Be careful as it can be poisonous if you drink it, so only use a few drops and spit it out. Yes I know it doesn't taste good! Yeast feeds on sugar so cut down on sugary foods.
