White stuff on baby's tongue?
My baby has a milky film over her tongue and her doctor saw it and said, Oh she has a little milk on her tongue". It has not gone away but has not gotten worse. I looked it up and all I could find was thrush. But her tongue looks nothing like the photos and she has none of the symptoms. Could it be something else? It just looks like a layer of milk just on her tongue. kelsey: See..it dont look anything like that.. i just wiped with washcloth and it came off. :)

- If your baby is nursing, you will know if she has thrush because nursing will become very painful for you. Since your doctor saw it and said it was just a buildup of milk, I would trust his judgement. If the problem does not get better, call your doc's office in a day or two and ask for advice.
- It is just a layer of milk. dont stress over it. Thrush she would be a bit more upset. It doesnt go away for a while... round about time they start eating foods.....
- That might be just waht it is. If it bothers you just take a soft washcloth and wipe the inside of her mouth and tongue. If it comes off then i was just milk residue if it doesn't keep an eye on it because it might be thrush. My friends baby had it and her never ooked as bad as the pictures we saw either! Good luck!
- that sounds like trush, expecially since it hasnt gone away. its caused by germs in the baby mouth, like letting them chew on your finger, or dirty bottle nipples, breast if you breastfeed, dirty binkies, things like that. or if shes had any antibiotics, or other medicines that she isnt use to. my son got it around 1.5 months, due to antibiotics & at first it just looked like little white spots on his tounge, then it developed on to the inside of his cheeks & gums, & his pedi gave him an awful smelling medicine [i forget the name, its yellow though! haha]. that i put in both sides of his mouth 4x a day, and within 2 days it was completely gone! he's gotten maybe once or twice since then, but ive caught it early & i still have the medcine left for the first go around, so it was gone within that day! have her pedi look at it again, good luck!!
- it could be a layer of milk on her tongue, try to take a wet wash cloth and put it on her tongue and try to get it off. if that doesn't work than it could be thrush. my little girl had it and it didn't get worse. it just didn't want to go way. until i called the doctor and got some medicine for her.
- that happened to my twins too. it is thrush the doctor should give her something for and it goes ago within a few hours. it worked for my babies. but don't worry it's nothing.
- It's just milk. The reason it hasn't gone away is because she keeps eating. It's fine. All babies get it. Only worry if it starts looking like Thrush.
- As long as it wipes off then it's just milk, if it doesn't wipe off then it could be thrush (which is awful, and you can get it if you are breastfeeding)
- Is she nursed?? When my daughter was nursing she has a milky film on her tounge because she fed so frequently, and her come off with a wash cloth aswell. You said you've been to the doctor and they didnt think it was thrush so it probably isn't, trust me, you would know if she had, However, if your still a little concerned just take her back for another check-up, you can never be too careful when it comes to babies, good luck.
