Tongue Thrush

Tongue Thrush

Why does my baby has a yellow tongue?

Just noticed that my (happy, giggly) baby has a yellow patch I can't rub off on his tongue. Is it thrush or something else?

  1. baby milk... usually warm water will remove it or give him a bottle of tea/water (no sugar) but if its thick and has little bumps it might be thrush, also check his inner cheeks if its thrush it will be thick there.
  2. DEAR MISS IT IS THRUSH I HAVE IT TO AND I AM A GROWN UP OK TAKE CARE
  3. Thrush I think is usually white I would make a dr appt and have him/her seen. "If you think your baby has thrush, look for the characteristic white patches. Then gently touch a patch with a gauze-covered finger. If it is thrush, it probably won't come off very easily, but if it does, you'll find a raw, red area underneath that may bleed. If you notice a white coating on your baby's tongue but nowhere else, it's probably just milk residue (especially if you can wipe it off). Thrush patches can appear on your baby's tongue, but are most often found on the sides of the mouth. These spots can be painful — you may first suspect thrush if your baby starts crying when nursing or sucking on a pacifier or bottle."
  4. prolly ate sumthin yellow,
  5. I would say it's thrash... you can get some of the babies pee from the diaper and rub on it's tongue...Trust me it works!!!! Good Luck
  6. Sounds like thrush, which is just another name for a yeast infection. Take him to see his pediatrician. They can not only tell you for sure, but will probably give him an antibiotic to get rid of the infection. It happens, no need to worry. Just take him to see his Dr.
  7. If your baby had thrush, he wouldn't be happy. It's milk. My 4-week old daughter has a consistent white coating on her tongue from her formula. Don't worry about it.
  8. thrush is usually white patches that form on the lining of the cheeks, tongue, and inside of the lips. if there isn't any patches on the cheeks or inner lips, it is not thrush. another reason to lean away from thrush is thrush is painful for the baby and the baby will not eat without crying out in pain. i would say it is most likely just from the formula. try getting a fingertip baby toothbrush and rubbing that across the baby's tongue with warm water.
  9. most likely it's thrush...give him a couple of ounces of water a day and take him to the doctor so the doc can tell you what else to do to help my son had the same thing and they said it was thrush and to give him water and within days it was gone.
  10. I would contact your doctor.......My daughter had thrush when she was 3 weeks old.......I thought it was milk but I couldn't get it to come off......then it got worse so I went to her pediatrician and found out it was thrush.......he gave her medicine for it and it didn't go away for a month........he told me that thrush is very hard to get rid of ........and it was...........if you are breastfeeding your doctor will also give you a cream for your nipples! Mine became very red and swore!........Please go to the doctor! Good luck hun!
