Is it possible to have oral thrush without the white covering - have the stinging tip of tongue, roof of mouth
and lips but doctor wont listen and sends me away saying doesn't know what it is. Offers no further help. It's driving me mad - I'm very uncomfortable. crazymag... Have tried all sorts of things but cant find a remedy. Still struggling with it after many weeks. Had same last year and couldn't find a solution - just seemed to clear up, but had it over 4 months!

- Hi,go to a well womans clinic or do your doctors have a nurse.Good Luck
- your doctor offers no further help? thats odd. it quite possibly could be, and if you're that uncomfortable, pay for some over the counter treatment. even if it isnt oral thrush, the treatment wont do any harm, and if it is, it gets cleared up, so you cant loose =]
- Yes. Treat it as such.
- i was unlucky enough to have oral thrush earlier this year after a prescription for the older variety of antibiotics was given too me for a chest infection...i didnt have white covering but ill tell u...trying to breathe was like trying to do it thru wire wool...i know that sounds strange...but it was like a cat with fur balls...i dont envy u ...it was like nothing id ever experienced before and hope never too again...poor u xxx i just took canisten oral treatment...it took a while too kick in tho...and it is verrrry uncomfortable!!
- When I get this condition I also find that it's more of a buring sensation than a coating. I use Daktarin Oral Gel which you can buy over the counter. You can also get it on prescription, but it looks as though your doctor won't prescribe it. This always works for me. It has a nice orangy taste too. It can't do you any harm and if it doesn't work then it's not thrush. You may also get some relief from live yogurts. I'm disgusted in your doctor, no doubt he doesn't realise how uncomfortable this problem is.
- It would be unusual to have no white plaques at all. I suspect this is not therefore the correct diagnosis. There are a number of possible causes of your symptoms, they might include PA due to B12 deficiency or even a low Zinc problem. Your GP should not have turned you away without suggesting some investigation, go back!
