Hairy Tongue or Thrush?
So I was told by both my doctor and my dentist that I have hairy black tongue from long term antibiotic use. Just recently though, the affected area has started to get irritated. Its not hurting, just uncomfortable. I feel like all the taste buds in that triangular area are a little swollen. The dentist (who I saw yesterday) says its nothing, but I feel like he didn't look that closely. Can you have thrush without the white spots? My tongue feels irritated and today I woke up with a sore throat. I know that thrush can be treated with medication, but hairy tongue can't. I just want to be rid of this if possible.
