My 6 week old baby has Oral thrush. Her tongue is now completely white with little specs of green and blue?
I am taking her into the Dr's tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone has heard of or seen this before? She has had it since she was 2 weeks and the Dr. put her on an antibiotic Nystatin and it seemed like she was getting better but now It looks terrible. She has also been very moody crying for no reason and her poop has been a very dark green color and she screams bloody murder when she has to poop. I am worried that the thrush has moved into her intestines. If anyone knows anything about this or what it could be I would really appreciate it.

- The antibiotic could be causing the funny colored poop, my son had similar reactions. It sounds like maybe she wasn't on the meds long enough, or needs something a little more agressive to solve the problem. My son had oral thrush shortly after he was born, and he was put on two medications (cant remember the names). One was a medication that I put on his tongue with a dropper, it turned purple. This made his tongue turn funny colors, but cleared it up. The other medication, I think I gave to him with water. He also had a prescription diaper cream that I had to use on his butt, genitals, chin and neck, because when he got thrush, he also got extremely dry skin. Just explain all the of the symptoms to the doctor tommorrow, and if it hasn't shown improvement in another couple weeks, try another doctor for a second opinion.
- There is another med that is good it is called Nilstat ask the doctor tomorrow about it How did your baby get thrush so early? My daughter was about 4 weeks when she got it and it was from Milton the stuff I was sterilising her stuff in.
- I have 7 week old twins they both have oral thrush i was told by a clinic nurse to get some Nilstat oral drops which are available from the chemist and to use them accordingly
